We’re back at the Burroughs Center tomorrow, same time, 10:30 am. Join us!

Tomorrow is the day! Our first outdoor service and picnic of the year, on "the Island" aka Wordin Park between Stop & Shop and PT Barnum at the corner of Wordin Ave. & St. Stephens Rd., from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please DO NOT go to the Burroughs Center! Please DO remember to bring whatever item you signed up to bring, and if you did not sign up, come anyway whether or not you have anything to bring. We will have plenty of hamburgers and gas and charcoal grills. We will also have a dominoes table, jump ropes for Double-Dutch, a Badminton net, sidewalk chalk and coloring pages for the younger ones. And the weather is going to be awesome, thank God. See you tomorrow at 11:00 am at Wordin Park!

Happy Easter!! Do you have a family member, friend or neighbor who may be one of those folks who only attend church on Easter, or know of anyone without a church home in or around the Black Rock neighborhood? They might welcome an invitation from you! We love to welcome all our neighbors— from PT Barnum to St. Mary’s by the Sea and in between— to celebrate Easter with us in the Burroughs Center. The Burroughs is in the heart of our neighborhood and especially beautiful this time of year! Please join us at 10:30 am tomorrow, Sunday April 21st, for a celebratory time of uplifting music, warm neighborly fellowship and an encouraging message suited to our neighborhood context. The Burroughs Center is located at 2470 Fairfield Avenue, to the left of the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, between Martin Terrace and Ellsworth Street, within walking distance of most neighbors. Come just as you are— there is no dress code— and bring the entire family! Neighborhood Church Black Rock is a non-denominational, neighborhood-rooted church. Everyone of all ages and backgrounds welcome!

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and it’s going to be a great service at Neighborhood Church Black Rock with a special message by our own Michelle Chabla on the theme of rejoicing. You won’t want to miss tomorrow’s service. And please remember to start inviting family and friends to our Easter celebration next Sunday. Both services same time, 10:30 am in the Burroughs Center. Come as you are and bring the family!

Wednesday, March 6 is the beginning of Lent, which ends on Thursday, April 18. We encourage everyone to observe Lent using this great devotional called "An American Lent" from the Repentance Project. There is no concern for weather tomorrow morning so we’ll see everyone at 10:30 am in the Burroughs Center for a great time of praise, prayer, fellowship teaching and communion. We are pleased to announce that our church service is on for this morning, 10:30 am at the Burroughs Center.

As everyone knows there is a winter storm coming overnight. Right now (5:00 pm Saturday) it seems it will only be raining by the time we head to church, however if by 8:00 AM Sunday road conditions appear hazardous we will cancel the service and post the notification on this page. We hope everyone is well and in the Christmas spirit! Unfortunately the weather forecast for tomorrow is not favorable for outdoors Christmas caroling as planned. But that won’t stop us from having a great service at our regular time (10:30) and place (Burroughs Center) with Christmas worship, fellowship, and an encouraging message. We’ll also celebrate December birthdays and make final plans for next week’s “Christmas on the Block” lunch and Christmas celebration. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning. Black Rock, Bridgeport friends and neighbors, remember the annual Tree Lighting is 5:00 pm tomorrow, Sunday December 1 at the corner of Brewster and Grovers with the Wassail Party immediately following at the Norden Club. Excited that Neighborhood Church Black Rock’s Michelle Chabla will be offering a blessing. (And please come to hear Michelle speak at the service 10:30 am in the Burroughs Center if you have no other plans Sunday morning!)
